HELP!!! Pfaff sewing maching questions!!!?

Okay, so I inherited my grandmother’s ancient sewing machine from the late 40’s- early 50’s, and I have NO idea how to use it! I’m trying to make a cosplay for an anime convention, and I’m very time restricted, so I need to figure this thing out asap! I managed to get it threaded, but when I try to sew anything, the needle will go a few times then stop. What am I doing wrong?

It probably needs a tuneup if it hasn’t had one for many years. It will need to be adjusted, cleaned and oiled thoroughly.

You can get a good grade of sewing machine oil, NOT WD40 or 3in1 oil, and try oiling all the places where you see metal rubbing on metal. If that doesn’t solve the problem, take it to a sewing machine store that repairs and services machines.

Here is a link that may help you .
When you first start to sew, make sure you hold the upper and lower thread behind the needle until you take a few stitches to lock the threads.
As the other poster stated, older machines need oiling and cleaning from time to time. Check the bobbin area to make sure there are no threads stuck in there or it will cause the machine to stop.

The machine is too old to pull out and start sewing without having it serviced first.

If you do not have a manual, you do not know where to oil it.
